Home window film

Why tint your home windows in San Diego?

Cooler rooms

Film keeps much of the sun’s infrared heat out, so sunny rooms stay cooler and more even through the day.

Less glare

Screens and TVs are easier to see in bright rooms, without closing the blinds.

Less fading

UV is blocked, so floors, furniture and art keep their color for longer.

Privacy

Reflective and white privacy films keep rooms private, from bathrooms to street-facing windows.

How it works

How home window tinting works

We visit, measure your windows and talk through the rooms. On the day, floors are covered, glass is cleaned and the film is cut to each pane.

Union’s home films come in Neutral, Silver, Ceramic, White Out and Black Out. Reflective film is private by day; at night, with lights on inside, it works the other way.

Many homes start with the sunny side: the west- and south-facing rooms take the most heat and glare, so we look at those first and you decide how far to go.

Union window film

Which window film is right for you?

Union makes five films for homes and businesses. They differ in how the glass looks, how much heat and glare they stop, and how much they let people see in.

  • Neutral

A clean, neutral finish for homes, offices and shop fronts that cuts glare and keeps rooms comfortable without making the glass feel heavy.

  • Silver

A mirror-like silver finish for the sunniest glass, with stronger heat control and privacy in the daytime.

  • Ceramic

A lighter, low-reflective film for heat and UV control when you want comfort without a mirrored look.

  • White Out

An opaque white film for full privacy on bathrooms, offices, meeting rooms and partitions, with a clean, bright finish.

  • Black Out

An opaque black film that blocks the light and the view, for back rooms, storage and private spaces.

Questions

Home window tinting questions

Will window film make my rooms cooler?

Yes. Film keeps much of the sun’s infrared heat out, so sunny rooms stay cooler and more even.

Can people see in at night?

With reflective film, it’s private by day, but at night with lights on inside people can see in. White Out film is private day and night.

Will film stop my floors fading?

Film blocks most UV, the main cause of fading on floors, furniture and art.

Can you make a bathroom window private?

Yes. White Out is an opaque white film: it covers the glass fully with a clean, bright finish, so the room stays private day and night.

How long until the film is clear?

A little haze or small water spots while it dries is normal. It clears on its own over the next few weeks.

How do I clean windows with film?

Wait a month, then use a soft cloth and a cleaner without ammonia. No scrapers on the film side.

Do you come to my home?

Yes. We come to your home anywhere within about 30 miles of our San Diego shop, look at the windows with you and fit the film there.

Which film should I choose for my home?

Neutral and Ceramic keep heat and glare down while the glass still looks clear. Silver reflects more on the sunniest sides, White Out covers glass in opaque white, and Black Out is for full privacy.

Is home window film covered by a warranty?

Yes. Union’s home and business films have their own written warranty. We go through what it covers for the film you choose before you go ahead.

Can film go on any window in my home?

Most windows, glass doors and skylights can take film. We look at each pane when we visit and tell you if any glass needs a different film or none at all.

Will film change how my windows look from outside?

It depends on the film. Neutral and Ceramic keep the glass looking much as it does now, Silver gives a mirror-like finish by day, and White Out and Black Out cover the glass fully.
